Mentally he is fine, oriented and communicates without problems, but as a result of the disease he is physically severely limited and partly psychologically affected (mild depressive tuning). Characteristically he may appear more dominant. The gentleman is wheelchair-bound and requires complete assistance with all daily care tasks. Full assistance is required for transfers (transfers) from bed to wheelchair and back, and a patient hoist is available. Cooperation from the client is minimal. He is completely dependent on the caregiver for personal hygiene, dressing and toileting. He uses a catheter, needs to empty a collection bag and also provides for the replacement of incontinence devices. Hygiene is completely assisted, with showering also provided by nursing 3 times a week. He does not manage meals independently, he needs to be fed, he takes fluids using a straw. The job also includes housekeeping such as cooking, shopping, cleaning and laundry care. The gentleman receives physiotherapy and occupational therapy in the home environment. Leisure time can be spent, for example, walking in a wheelchair. Night work is only needed occasionally (about 3 times a week once a night) when the gentleman is restless and calls for a Caregiver. In such cases, medication (e.g. calming spray) is also used.
