Caring for an 89-year-old lady, 65 kg, 160 cm, who is living independently, who has had a stroke and has severely impaired eyesight, her vision is about 1%, she is practically blind. She moves around the house with the help of a cane, outside she uses a walker. She is mentally fully oriented and fine, she wishes to maintain as much independence as possible. It is important that things in the home are always in the same place so that she can navigate safely. The lady is independent with dressing and using the toilet, assistance is needed especially with personal hygiene, with assistance with showering once a week. The carer’s role also includes household management such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping (shops are accessible on foot, within 1 km, a bicycle is also available), as well as companionship, conversation and daily activities. Shared afternoon walks of approximately 30-60 minutes, always accompanied only, are also part of the regime. No night work or lifting is required.
