Caring for an 80-year-old gentleman, 85 kg, 185 cm, who is left in a wheelchair after suffering a stroke and is dependent on assistance with most activities of daily living. He suffers from incontinence and uses nappies. Speech is slightly slurred due to the effects of the stroke. He has a PEG tube in place to administer nutrition. He is mentally oriented. Within the home the gentleman is mobile with a wheelchair. He requires transfer between bed and wheelchair approximately 1-3 times daily, with moderate physical assistance required. The gentleman is completely dependent on assistance with dressing, personal hygiene and toileting. The carer also provides incontinence care and assists with transfers. Walking outdoors in a wheelchair is also possible. He lives in the home with his wife, who provides housekeeping. The carer mainly helps her with caring for her husband and provides support with daily care. There are aids such as a reclining bed, a transfer bed, a bath hoist and a toilet seat. Night care is not needed.
