| Caring for an 85 year old gentleman, 83 kg, 182 cm, who suffers from general old age weakness, but is mentally well and oriented. He moves independently without aids and manages most of the activities of daily living without assistance. The gentleman is independent in dressing, eating and toileting. He needs partial help with personal hygiene, especially when showering. Accompanying him in activities outside the home, such as errands or transfers, is also an important part of his care. He likes to spend time being active, he and his wife go for daily walks, so it is appropriate to encourage them to move around and do activities together. Part of the carer’s job is to manage the household for both of them, such as shopping, cooking, cleaning and looking after the laundry. There is also a wife who lives in the household who has incipient dementia but does not require direct nursing care. No night care or lifting is required. There is a car with a manual transmission. |
