Caring for an 86-year-old gentleman, 75 kg, 170 cm, who suffers from dementia with severely impaired short-term memory. He often repeats himself, asks the same questions and is confused at times, but is well directed and cooperative. He moves independently without aids and enjoys going for walks accompanied by a companion. He does not need guidance when dressing, guidance is sufficient. He can manage eating and toileting independently. He needs partial help with personal hygiene, especially when showering. The main aim is to relieve his wife, who lives in a shared household with him. The caregiver provides supervision, companionship, guides the gentleman in his daily routine and accompanies him in his activities. Part of the caregiver’s job is to manage the household such as shopping (shops are accessible on foot), cooking, cleaning and laundry care. No night work or lifting is required.
