| Caring for an 87 year old gentleman, 75 kg, 179 cm, living independently, who suffers from mild dementia and has an increased risk of falling. Mentally he is oriented in time, space and towards persons, dementia is mainly manifested by forgetfulness. He is calm, without aggression or tendency to run away. He has had a heart attack in the past and has a defibrillator implanted. The gentleman is mildly limited in movement, but gets up and moves independently without the need for lifting. Incontinence is not present. He is largely independent in activities of daily living, and does not need assistance with personal hygiene, dressing or toileting. The main occupation is therefore supervision, companionship and support in daily living. The work mainly includes complete housekeeping such as cooking, shopping (shop about 300 m), cleaning, washing and ironing. Once a week two residential units (ground floor and first floor) need to be cleaned. Meals are prepared in the kitchen of the caregiver, who has her own housing. An important part of the care is communication, company and simple conversations so that the gentleman does not remain isolated. In the house on the ground floor there are belongings of his late wife which he wishes to keep. Friends and a pharmacist also help when needed. No night care or lifting is required. The caregiver has her own housing with her own bathroom in the same house, the kitchen is shared . |
