Caring for an 82 year old gentleman, 63 kg, 170 cm, with moderately advanced dementia, living independently. Short-term memory is impaired, long-term memory is preserved. The gentleman is very kind and calm. He moves around in a wheelchair. He has two knee replacements, one is currently inflamed. He needs help with dressing and guidance with hygiene, e.g. handing a toothbrush or reminding to wash. Showering/bathing takes place approximately once a week. Meals need to be prepared by the master and supervised for regularity, communal dining is required. The caregiver’s job also includes complete housekeeping such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, supervision and guidance during the day, including companionship. Part of the job is also taking care of the dog (an older female German Shepherd), which includes walking her at least 3 times a day (short walks 5-10 min). The bitch is on a leash and knows the route. The gentleman likes to go for walks, he needs to be taken in a wheelchair, e.g. also to his wife’s grave (approx. 15 min from the house). Medication is provided by the nursing service 2x a day (morning and evening). Night work is not necessary, the gentleman goes to the toilet by himself. In case of a fall, help is needed. Lifting is not normally necessary, only exceptionally, the gentleman can cooperate. A Czech caregiver is preferred.
