| Caring for an independent living 68-year-old elderly lady, 58 kg, 168 cm, who is physically fully independent. She suffers from dementia and has a newly diagnosed brain tumour. Mentally she is still fine, but has difficulty finding words, impaired short-term memory and partially affected vision in her right eye. Despite his physical independence, he is unable to manage normal daily activities. He needs help with eating, dressing and general daily functioning. In particular, she requires a patient approach, understanding and constant support. Personal hygiene and dressing are carried out with guidance. She needs partial assistance with eating. Care is still more about supervision, guidance and organisation of the day than physical nursing care. The lady attends the day centre 2 times a week.The caregiver’s job includes housekeeping, cooking, shopping, cleaning and laundry. It is important to set a daily routine, provide companionship and go for walks with the lady. Night work is not regular, but the lady has trouble sleeping and may be awake at night. Need to be available if needed. For safety she has an emergency bracelet and a baby monitor is planned. Lifting is not necessary. The caregiver has her own bathroom, a car is also available. |
