Caring for an independent living 90-year-old lady, 60 kg, 160 cm. Her hearing is impaired, so she needs to speak clearly, louder and more directly. The lady is diagnosed with a fractured femoral neck after a fall and has undergone both surgery and rehabilitation. She gets around with the help of a walker both in the house and outside, without the need for accompaniment. She has diabetes and heart failure.She does not have dementia and is not incontinent.She wears compression stockings which are provided by another service. She is independent in most activities, dresses herself, eats and goes to the toilet. She only needs some help with personal hygiene, especially with showering and washing her hair. The caregiver’s role is mainly to support her in everyday life, such as preparing meals, shopping, cleaning, laundry, routine housework and supervising her regular fluid intake. It is important to maintain a daily routine, provide companionship and help with routine activities. Medicines are prepared, but need to be supervised. Medical visits are arranged by the family. The caregiver has a room with a bathroom and toilet on her own floor.
