Care for an independent living senior woman, 58 kg, 168 cm, who moves around the home with the help of a walker and suffers from incipient dementia/Alzheimer’s disease. She is quiet, forgetful, on dialysis (3 times a week, transport provided) and has diabetes, self-administered insulin, but needs to be reminded. She is largely independent, walking, dressing, eating and using the toilet on her own, but needs supervision and guidance with personal hygiene, especially when showering to prevent falls. She has aids such as a cane, a toilet attachment and a bath seat. An important part of care is supervision, presence and support in daily life, especially in maintaining a daily routine, as the lady is not always time oriented. Regular medication needs to be checked. Short walks together may also be part of the day. The family provides part of the meals, yet household management such as shopping, cooking, cleaning and laundry care is also part of the job, shops are accessible on foot. No night work or lifting is required. Knowledge of German is not necessary if the caregiver speaks Romanian or Hungarian.
