| Caring for an elderly lady, 74 years old, 70 kg, 165 cm, who has suffered a stroke. Currently her condition is gradually improving, especially her mobility, and she is due to be discharged from hospital. The lady is partially incontinent (especially at night), she goes to the toilet.Communication is preserved, speech and hearing are without limitations, vision is slightly impaired. Mentally, she is without aggressive symptoms, but can be restless, especially if she does not have a clear structure of the day. She felt lonely and sad in the hospital; presence, a calm approach and a regular routine are important. She can stand and sit up on her own,needs support when walking, using aids and transfers (in a wheelchair). Transfer is possible with assistance. She needs help especially with personal hygiene, dressing,assistance with toileting,checking fluid intake,taking medication,assistance with rehabilitation exercises (e.g. grasping objects, handling common objects). The lady needs company, but also space to relax. She enjoys walks, nature, animals, watching TV and simple activities such as cooking or baking,visiting her daughter’s grave.Activation is important, but sensitively and according to her current condition. The work includes routine household chores and daily life, including accompanying her to appointments and taking care of necessary matters. Night care is not necessary but may be required. The lady prefers a calm, respectful approach and is happy to have someone with her, but also needs her space. There is a car,bicycle. |
