Caring for an independent living 71-year-old elderly gentleman, 70 kg, 180 cm, who suffers from dementia with impaired short-term memory and significant aphasia, has difficulty finding words and communication is limited. The gentleman is also hard of hearing and uses hearing aids. He moves independently without aids. He manages personal hygiene, dressing and toileting independently, with the caregiver providing supervision, guidance and assistance as needed. The caregiver’s job includes housekeeping such as cleaning, laundry, cooking and shopping. The gentleman may be involved in household activities, such as cooking or other simple activities, if possible. Companionship, support in leisure activities, walks and accompaniment with errands are important. A car is also available. The caregiver also looks after the pets (cat). Night care is only occasional, the gentleman may have nightmares, in which case it is necessary to calm him down, orientate him and accompany him back to bed. Lifting is not necessary. There is a car with automatic transmission.
