Caring for an 84 year old gentleman, 80 kg, 175 cm, who suffers from total old age weakness and is completely bedridden. The gentleman has an anti-disability mattress and needs to be regularly positioned approximately three times a day. There is no transfer out of bed, the gentleman remains exclusively in bed. Mentally he is partially oriented , responds to address, but is not in good mental condition. He uses diapers and is completely dependent on assistance for most daily tasks. Complete assistance is needed for dressing, personal hygiene and toileting. Hygiene is done directly in bed. Care also includes changing incontinence devices and supervising the use of medication, for which the caregiver’s assistance is needed. He does not need physical assistance with eating, but needs to be guided and supervised in the course of eating. The caregiver’s job also includes housekeeping such as preparing meals, shopping, cleaning and taking care of laundry. The gentleman lives in the home with his wife, who takes an active part in the care and also helps with the daily care of her husband. The wife is always mobile, drives and shopping can be done together with her. No night care is not necessary, the gentleman usually sleeps through the night, lifting is not necessary as there is no transfer out of bed. The carer also runs the household for the wife.
