Care for an 86-year-old, 65 kg, 167 cm, independent living gentleman who lives alone and moves around with the help of a walker. He suffers from dementia and is sometimes confused, especially in the evenings, but is calm, sociable and likes to talk. He has a weakened bladder due to prostate problems, so he wears incontinence briefs as a precaution. He had a heart attack about fifteen years ago and has a defibrillator implanted. He is a smoker,speaks Turkish and does not consume any pork. He moves independently, needs partial assistance with personal hygiene and dressing, as well as changing incontinence aids as needed. He eats independently, but it is important to supervise sufficient fluid intake. He enjoys watching television and enjoys walks, which need to be accompanied. He wants to do as many activities as possible on his own, so support and guidance is needed. The carer’s duties include household management such as cooking, shopping, cleaning and laundry. Shops are accessible on foot and family help is available if needed. Accompaniment to doctors is needed. A walker and wheelchair accessible shower are available in the home. A night time caregiver is needed, sometimes the gentleman gets up at night and may be confused. Depending on his current condition he needs to be checked to see if he needs help, some nights he sleeps without waking up, other times he may wake up two or three times. Lifting is not necessary.
