She lives in a house with her husband, who does not need to be cared for at all. (He just needs help putting on and taking off his pull-up socks and buttoning his shirt buttons.)
The lady has partial dementia , she had unsuccessful hip surgery 15 years ago. In January this year she fell and damaged not only her hip joint but also her knee. She is therefore in a wheelchair and a lift is used in the house to handle her.
The old lady gets up at around 8:00 am and in the evening at 10:00 pm. At night she sleeps on a reclining bed and the side barriers on her bed are raised at night. No night work is required.
Twice a week, Monday and Thursday, she goes to a day centre.
She wears incontinence material and also pull-up socks for safety.
A physiotherapist will see her.
Her kidneys are functioning poorly , she needs to make sure she is drinking enough.
It is good for her to have a regular daily routine. She likes to look good (hair, nails, clothes) and to be kept informed of things that are happening and will happen. She needs to be stimulated to be active. She will refuse at first, but after a while she can be persuaded. She loves to do handicrafts, needlework, crochet, crossword puzzles, diamond painting, likes to play games, listen to music.
Husband and wife have 3 children, 2 daughters and a son. Daughters live nearby.
Caregiver has German or Dutch language skills, has own room, 2 days off.
