Caring for an 85-year-old elderly gentleman, 72 kg, 172 cm, who lives in a shared household with his wife. He suffers from advanced Parkinson’s, general old age weakness and is showing the first signs of dementia. Mobility is severely limited and he uses a walker or even a wheelchair. He requires assistance with personal hygiene, dressing and undressing, as well as toileting – he wears incontinence briefs. She needs supervision and guidance in her routine, but also gentle exercise and simple motor activities to support her motor skills. He gets up at about 8:00 a.m. and goes to bed around 9:00 p.m. He sleeps a lot during the day. The caregiver also provides complete household care, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, and linen changes for the gentleman’s wife. Once a week a shopping assistant comes in to do the larger shopping with the wife. The care also includes companionship, conversation and accompaniment in daily activities. In the summertime, watering flowers and picking small fruits in the garden are included. Night care is required 1 – 2 times per night. Lifting is not necessary.
