Caregiving A 91-year-old lady, 82 kg, 169 cm, who uses a walking stick to get around the house. She suffers from dementia/Alzheimer’s and incontinence. She is very forgetful, partially disoriented, navigates well in the home environment and is not prone to running away… After a fractured shoulder, her right arm is almost stiff. She also suffers from diabetes, which is stabilized with medication. He goes to the toilet independently, uses incontinence aids rather preventively, occasionally incontinence appears. She is mobile with support, needs partial assistance with dressing, hygiene and toileting, and tries to be as independent as possible. She eats independently; emphasis on healthy and fresh food is important. Care includes meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, laundry and minor garden care. Shopping is done by car, the shop is about 2 km away, it is also accessible by bicycle. There is also a husband living in the household (level 3 care) who recently broke his femur, had surgery and will return home from hospital around the beginning of May, after which he will go into rehabilitation. At the moment it is not possible to determine the exact amount of care needed, so it is necessary for the caregiver to be physically fit and to be able to manage a transfer if necessary. A reclining bed is available. My husband has been independent so far, driving and looking after the animals in the garden. Night work is needed as needed, not daily. The lady goes to the toilet alone at night, she needs to be accompanied back to bed if necessary. Lifting is not routinely needed, but may be necessary in the future due to the situation with her husband. This is moderate to more complex care, focusing on dementia supervision, assistance with basic tasks, housekeeping, and flexible adaptation to changing health status in the home. There is a Smart car with automatic transmission.
