| Caring for an 84-year-old gentleman, 76 kg, 167 cm, who gets around with the help of a walker or a cane. He suffers from Parkinson’s and incipient dementia, has a pacemaker, stents, nut allergy (especially peanuts) and hay fever. Short-term memory is impaired. His hearing is impaired and he uses hearing aids.He is friendly, open and cooperative. Movement is slow, gait is unsteady (typical of Parkinson’s) but he manages independently. He can get up without assistance. He needs to be motivated to move daily. He is not incontinent, he manages the toilet on his own. He needs more guidance with dressing, partial help with hygiene. The bathroom is wheelchair accessible with a shower and a chair. He eats independently, needs to be supervised for drinking and regularity of meals. He prepares his own medication, supervision of use is needed. The job includes domestic help such as cooking, shopping and laundry. Cleaning is provided by a cleaning service. Shops are available. The gentleman needs to be accompanied to the doctor by appointment, simple appointments are dealt with by the Caregiver, a professional family. Companionship, communication and daily routines are important. The gentleman enjoys reading and going on outings. His wife, who is currently in rehabilitation, also lives in the household. Later she may become a second carer, her condition is not yet known. Night work is not necessary. There is a car (hybrid) |
