| Caring for an 89-year-old lady 70 kg, 160 cm with early stage dementia and incontinence. The lady is calm, has no aggression or tendency to run away from home. She is person and place oriented, time only partially. She moves with a walker, gait is unsteady and needs to be accompanied. She needs assistance in getting out of bed or out of a chair. She has heart problems, a pacemaker and urinary incontinence (wears diapers). Help is needed with dressing, hygiene, toileting and showering (getting in/out of the bath, washing, hair),escorting her to the toilet, reminding and helping with hygiene and changing nappies/pants). She is completely independent at mealtimes, just needs to be supervised for drinking. The caregiver’s tasks also include cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry and routine household care. Shops are accessible on foot. It is also important to maintain a daily rhythm, spend time together, talk and motivate the lady to do activities. Her husband also lives in the household, he is without health limitations, he does not require care but needs relief from domestic duties. Night work is not necessary. |
