Care for an independent living 91 year old gentleman, 60 kg, 169 cm, who is mostly recumbent. He suffers from general old age weakness and cancer, he has a brain tumour with metastases to the lungs. He is currently in hospital and is in a palliative state and his wish is to return home. He has severely weakened muscles and is dependent on assistance for most tasks – dressing, hygiene, using the toilet. He needs to be lifted, a medium level of support is required. Uses incontinence aids which need to be changed, defecates in a toilet chair. He relies on a wheelchair for mobility, walks are only possible with its use. Meals are taken partially independently, he can drink and sometimes eat on his own, soft food is given. His hearing is severely impaired, he needs to speak louder. It is also necessary to supervise the use of medication. Care also includes household management such as preparing meals, shopping, cleaning and laundry care. Night work is not necessary, the gentleman usually sleeps through the night. A wheelchair, a reclining bed and a toilet chair are available or in the process of being fitted. There is a car and a private bathroom with kitchenette for the caregiver.
