Caring for an elderly married couple: an 82-year-old lady, 56 kg, 161 cm and an 84-year-old gentleman. Both are physically independent, move around the house without assistance, but suffer from incipient dementia, are forgetful and slightly disoriented in time. Mental fitness is impaired. Both can manage independently dressing, eating and visiting the toilet. However, they need partial assistance with personal hygiene and supervision during the day. The lady occasionally needs help with dressing. The caregiver’s role is mainly to support daily functioning – supervision and help with hygiene, shopping, planning the day, organising appointments, managing the household, cooking, cleaning, laundry and shared activities. Duties also include grocery shopping together with the seniors. No overnight care or physical lifting is required.
