Caring for an 89-year-old gentleman, 75 kg, 165 cm, who moves with the help of a walker. He suffers from a heart attack condition, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and elevated blood fats. After a fall, his gait is unsteady and he needs partial assistance to get up. He also suffers from incipient dementia.He does not exhibit aggressive behaviour or a tendency to run away. He needs partial assistance with dressing, personal hygiene and toilet use and tries to cooperate. Meals are taken independently, but regularity of meals and adequate fluid intake should be supervised. Incontinence is not present, aids are used only exceptionally as a precaution, especially at night. It is necessary to accompany the gentleman during toileting. For hygiene, support is needed for showering, hair washing and shaving, as well as for getting in and out of the shower. Care includes supervising the use of medication that is prepared by another service, assistance with activities of daily living, maintaining a daily routine, companionship and communication. The job also includes housekeeping such as shopping, cleaning, laundry and routine household chores, with housekeeping help coming in once a week. There is also a wife living in the household who needs partial help with dressing and personal hygiene, the aim being to relieve her of caring for her husband and the household.
