| Caring for an 89 year old gentleman, 85 kg, 178 cm, who is currently in short term care. The gentleman suffers from old age weakness, heart disease and the effects of a fall. He is partially incontinent, incontinence aids are changed by the caregiver. Communication is preserved, hearing is slightly impaired, the gentleman is fully oriented, does not suffer from dementia or aggressive behaviour. He enjoys direct communication and activation. Favorite activities include music, nature, animals, reading, television and board games. Mobility is severely limited, he needs support when getting up, sitting down, handling aids and transfers, and needs full assistance when standing and walking. There is a risk of falls, he uses a walker to walk and there is also a reclining bed, toilet and shower chair. She can be partially co-operative with transfers. Night work may occasionally be needed, the gentleman uses a baby monitor, or a doorbell can be fitted. Assistance with hygiene, intimate care, dressing, toileting and routine daily care is needed. The caregiver also provides drinking supervision, companionship and support in daily functioning. Medication is provided by an outpatient service that arrives daily. The gentleman lives in the family home with his wife, who is partly involved in care,cooking.Family members or friends also come daily. Once a week, help comes to the home. The work also includes household chores such as washing and ironing, cooking for three people, with the wife often cooking alone. Free time by arrangement. The caregiver has her own bathroom. |
