Care for an 85-year-old gentleman, 77 kg, 172 cm, who has had a sudden stroke and is recovering from hospitalization. He has cognitive limitations and also suffers from diabetes, which is stabilized with medication. The gentleman recognizes close people but his spatial orientation is significantly limited, even at home. He doesn't always understand contexts and should not be left alone, as he might wander off if left by himself. Communication is understandable, but the content doesn't always make sense. He has trouble finding words. His hearing is impaired, he uses a hearing aid, so one needs to speak clearly and calmly. He moves independently but is unsteady on his feet. He requires an escort when going outside. Assistance and supervision are needed on stairs. He can manage getting up on his own. He is urinary incontinent and uses pads; he can control his bowel movements. He needs guidance and partial assistance with dressing, hygiene, and toileting. His clothes need to be prepared, reminders for changing clothes given, and help provided where necessary. When it comes to toileting, he needs reminders to visit the WC, be accompanied, and helped with changing incontinence products. Help is needed with showering, washing hair, and entering the bathtub or shower. The gentleman eats independently; supervision of fluid intake and regular meals is required. Medications are prepared; their intake needs to be monitored. The duties include household management such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry, general errands, and companionship during the day. Maintaining a daily routine and supervising the senior are important. His wife, who does not require care, lives in the household, and a 10-year-old Australian Shepherd also lives in the house, cared for by the wife and a neighbor. Night work is not required; in case of need, his wife will care for the gentleman. Free time by agreement, with the possibility of taking two afternoons off per week. There is a dog in the house.
