Care for an 82-year-old gentleman, 75 kg, 180 cm, who is bedridden. He suffers from dementia, which manifests as disorientation in time and space, but he mostly recognizes people. He is calm, friendly, and cooperative. He has high blood pressure, urinary and fecal incontinence, and wears diapers. He is also allergic to hazelnuts. The gentleman is completely dependent on help with dressing, personal hygiene, changing incontinence aids, and toileting. He requires partial assistance with eating. He spends most of his time in bed; regular repositioning, diaper changes, and, depending on his current health status, mobilization to the edge of the bed or into a wheelchair are necessary. Caregiver assistance is required for transfers, although the gentleman can cooperate partially. Full transfer using assistive devices is provided in the household. A care service visits twice daily. The caregiver's role is to ensure the gentleman's daily care, administer medications, prepare meals, do shopping, maintain the household, do laundry, and provide companionship. Cleaning is handled by a cleaning service. The gentleman's 83-year-old wife, who is independent, also lives in the household, but the caregiver assists her primarily with cooking, administering medications, and general household chores. Night duty is required approximately once per night. Free time by agreement. A private bathroom is available for the caregiver.
