Care for an independently living 85-year-old gentleman, 87 kg, 183 cm, who is wheelchair-bound. He suffers from kidney failure and undergoes dialysis 3 times a week. He has urinary and fecal incontinence (uses diapers and has a catheter). He is recovering from sepsis, which led to the amputation of a toe, and also has one leg amputated. He had a stroke (2024) and was recently hospitalized for pneumonia. The gentleman is mentally completely fine and oriented. He needs assistance with hygiene, dressing, and toileting. He cooperates during handling and requires moderate assistance with transfers. On dialysis days, higher support is needed, especially with getting up and throughout the day. He eats independently. Household duties include cooking, shopping, cleaning, and laundry. Shops are within walking distance. The gentleman enjoys chess and company; communication and spending time together are important. Night duty is not required. Aids such as a wheelchair, commode, adjustable bed, and shower chair are available. This is a moderate to physically demanding care focused on mobility, incontinence care, assistance with basic activities, and household management. The caregiver has a room with a shower and sauna available.
