Care for an elderly married couple in their shared household. The 88-year-old lady, 45 kg, 160 cm, is a palliative care patient. She suffers from dementia, arthritis, and has had a pulmonary embolism. She is bedridden. After a stroke, she has poor eyesight and only a narrow field of vision. She hardly speaks. She wears incontinence aids. She requires complete assistance with hygiene, dressing, toileting, and all daily care. She is washed in bed. Incontinence aids need to be changed and her position adjusted every 2 to 3 hours. She only consumes liquid food. Palliative care service visits daily, manages medications, infusions, and is available 24 hours a day. A general practitioner also visits as needed. The gentleman is 92 years old, has very poor hearing, and severe arthritis. He walks with a cane. He is still independent, drives, and goes shopping. Occasionally, he needs to be reminded to change into clean clothes. The caregiver prepares simple meals, cleans, does laundry, and manages the household. The gentleman enjoys meat dishes; breakfasts and dinners are cold. He only needs food and drinks prepared; he does not require a program or companionship. A cleaner visits the household once a week. Shops are nearby. A car, bicycle, and a prepaid debit card for shopping are available. Night duty is not required, as the lady mostly sleeps through the night. The family visits frequently to help, manages all organizational matters, and is prepared to assist when needed. Free time is by arrangement.
