Care for a self-reliant 87-year-old gentleman, 70 kg, 163 cm, who has dementia, heart disease, and problems with his intervertebral discs. He is partially incontinent and uses incontinence products. Dementia fluctuates; sometimes he needs less assistance, other times more. He is not aggressive and exhibits no other problematic behaviors. If he feels overwhelmed by a situation, it helps to let him rest for a few minutes. The gentleman moves with a walker and is at risk of falling. He requires assistance with movement, walking on stairs, showering, dressing, and undressing, depending on his current condition. Lifting is not necessary; the gentleman can cooperate if needed. He needs help with personal hygiene, intimate hygiene, dressing, undressing, and using the toilet. Fluid intake must be monitored, and medication reminders are necessary. Lifting and night duty are not required. The carer is responsible for cooking, shopping, household cleaning, laundry, ironing, and plant care. The family visits him almost daily. Free time is by agreement.
