Care for an elderly married couple living in a shared household in the city of Ulm, district of Söflingen. An 88-year-old gentleman, 172 cm tall, weighing 70 kg, suffers from Parkinson's disease and general senile dementia. He has fallen several times in the past and is at risk of falling. He underwent surgery for a fractured hip bone, has since recovered, and has a permanent urinary catheter. He uses incontinence briefs, a urine bottle or a bedpan, and a permanent catheter. The caregiver is responsible for changing incontinence products. He moves with the assistance of a walker. He requires support when walking, standing, using stairs, showering, and dressing. Regular lifting is not currently anticipated, but assistance is needed for transfers (2-4 times). Night duty is usually not required. The gentleman needs help with personal and intimate hygiene, dressing, using the toilet, and managing incontinence products. The caregiver should remind him to take his medication, ensure adequate fluid intake, and accompany him to the doctor as needed. He enjoys watching television, listening to music, sports broadcasts, reading newspapers, and, depending on his health, going for walks. An 88-year-old lady, 160 cm tall, weighing 60 kg, is mobile and moves independently, using a walker or a walking stick as needed. She has significantly impaired vision and partially impaired hearing. Due to her poor eyesight, she needs help mainly with operating the washing machine and dishwasher, or with cooking and other tasks where she cannot safely read instructions or operate appliances. Otherwise, she is largely independent in the household. She requires support when showering, but generally manages dressing by herself. Assistance with personal hygiene and other tasks should only be provided when she needs it or requests it. It is important not to take over activities she can still perform independently. The caregiver should remind her to take her medication as needed and assist with intimate hygiene. The lady prefers a calm environment and dislikes excessive intrusion into her privacy. She enjoys music, especially popular hits, television, and programs or books about the Pope. She likes watering plants. She has a friendly and balanced personality. The caregiver should respect her independence and assist only where help is truly necessary. Night care is not regularly required, but she may occasionally need help with nighttime toilet visits. The caregiver's duties also include assistance with cooking, cleaning, laundry, ironing, shopping, and general household management. The family lives in close proximity, visits the couple regularly, and helps as needed. Shopping facilities are approximately one kilometer away. A reclining bed, a toilet and shower chair, and a car with manual transmission are available. A private bathroom is available for the caregiver. Free time is arranged by agreement.
