Caregiver Andervenne-Oberdorf

Care for a 72-year-old gentleman, 95 kg, 174 cm, who has advanced dementia, significantly impaired short-term memory, and problems with orientation in time and space. He recognizes familiar people, is not aggressive, and has no tendency to wander. He is unaware of his illness and is very emotionally attached to his wife, whom he constantly stays close to. He also has high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, and a problem with his urinary tract. The gentleman moves independently but requires accompaniment on walks. He needs guidance and reminders for dressing, personal hygiene, and toileting. The caregiver prepares his clothes, reminds him to take medications, and supervises their intake. Lifting or night work is not required; assistance is only needed in emergencies. The caregiver is responsible for cooking, cleaning, laundry, companionship, and supervision of the gentleman. It is important to provide him with a sense of security, assist with orientation, and relieve his wife. All activities are carried out in agreement with her. Shopping can be managed by the family; his daughter and her family live in a separate part of the house. Private accommodation with a bathroom and kitchenette is available for the caregiver. Free time is by agreement.
