Care for an elderly married couple. The lady suffers from severe osteoporosis and Parkinson's disease. She is mentally sound and oriented. She uses a walker and can stand up on her own, but due to severe pain, she spends a lot of time lying down. On worse days, she needs light assistance with getting up and being lifted, and she cooperates. She needs partial assistance with hygiene and guidance with dressing. She eats and uses the toilet independently. The caregiver also helps her with skin care and daily activities. The gentleman has advanced dementia, is not oriented in time or space, and does not have a regular day-night rhythm. He is significantly hard of hearing and has difficulty letting people get close to him, thus requiring a very patient and empathetic approach. He moves independently, using a walker for longer distances. He has an abdominal catheter, which he tends to pull due to dementia and has pulled out several times in the past. The caregiver empties his catheter bag. He requires full assistance with hygiene, partial assistance with toileting, and guidance with dressing. He needs help and guidance with eating. The caregiver prepares meals, shops, cleans, does laundry, and ensures the normal running of the household. For both, it is important to monitor adequate fluid intake. The lady usually sleeps through the night and only needs assistance exceptionally, depending on her current condition. The gentleman gets up about 3-4 times at night, often sorting things and emptying wardrobes. Active night care is not required, but if necessary, he needs to be guided back to bed. Free time as agreed.
