Care for a 75-year-old lady, 68 kg, 169 cm, with vascular dementia, high blood pressure, and incontinence. Following a fall, she is currently bedridden and requires gradual mobilization. Her short-term memory and orientation are partially impaired, but long-term memory is intact. The lady speaks little but understands a lot. The lady needs full assistance with personal hygiene and toileting, and partial assistance with dressing and eating. She is both urinary and fecal incontinent and uses incontinence briefs. Initially, she eats by herself, but later needs to be fed and reminded to eat. If given enough time and guidance, she can partially perform some activities herself. Assistance is needed for transfers from the adjustable bed to the wheelchair and with mobilization. The lady cooperates when being lifted. With her husband, she can walk approximately 20-40 m with support holding her hands. She goes for walks in a wheelchair. A physiotherapist visits twice a week to show the caregiver exercises for further mobilization. The caregiver assists the husband with the lady's care, prepares meals, takes care of some household chores, and stays with the lady when the husband is not home. The husband performs full hygiene twice a week; the caregiver does it on other days. The husband handles laundry and hanging clothes; the caregiver irons. Night assistance is not required. A guest toilet is available for the caregiver. Free time is by agreement.
