The lady moves with the help of a walker and accompanied outside the home; within the home, she moves without aids, but her gait is unsteady. She can stand up on her own. She does not wear compression stockings. She is partially incontinent and wears diapers. She does not suffer from dementia (she is fully oriented in time, place, and person). She maintains active relationships with her family. Initially, she may be withdrawn or cautious, but once the caregiver sits with her, she will become approachable again. The lady is almost completely independent; she enjoys solving crosswords, knitting, reading, and watching TV. She lives at home with her husband, who does not require care but rather needs relief from caring for his wife. The caregiver prepares meals (eating together is required), supervises medication intake and adequate fluid intake, does the shopping, cleans, takes care of the household and laundry, accompanies her to doctor's appointments, and is a support in daily activities, provides companionship, and engages in conversations. Night work or heavy lifting is not required. A cleaning service visits the home once a week. The caregiver has 2-3 rooms available. A car with an automatic transmission is available.
