Care for a 79-year-old senior living alone, 152 cm, 69 kg. The senior has high blood pressure, urinary incontinence, and takes blood-thinning medication. The medication is prepared by an external care service. Mobility is significantly limited. The senior is not bedridden, but walking and standing are nearly impossible. She requires caregiver assistance for transfers and collaborates minimally herself. She uses a walker and a rotating bath seat as aids. Time and place orientation are partially impaired. She needs help with complete personal hygiene – washing, showering/bathing, intimate hygiene, hair care, oral hygiene, nail/foot, and skin care. She requires full assistance with dressing and undressing. She has urinary incontinence, uses diapers, and needs help when using the toilet. She requires reminders and guidance during meals. Her fluid intake is reduced, so she needs regular encouragement to drink and reminders for adequate fluid intake. During the night, she requires regular assistance, even multiple times per night, primarily for toilet visits. The presence of a caregiver during the night is necessary. She enjoys television, radio/music, company, conversations, and spending time together. Her family lives nearby and visits her regularly. For three days a week, a family member is present for at least one hour. Caregiver tasks include cooking, cleaning, laundry, household management, assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, and incontinence care, as well as companionship and conversation. The family handles shopping. The lady lives alone in an apartment on the 2nd floor.
