In the past, she had diabetes treated with insulin, which she no longer needs. She is now home after a 5-week hospital stay. She was taking strong pain medication, which the palliative care service reduced, improving her mental state. The lady is mostly bedridden and completely dependent on help with dressing, personal hygiene, and toileting. She can sit on the edge of the bed and stand briefly. She requires moderate physical assistance for transfers to the toilet chair, and she cooperates. Hygiene is performed in bed, and showering on a shower chair. She uses diapers at night. Night assistance is needed 1-2 times per night, especially for transfers to the toilet chair and changing diapers. Nursing service currently visits twice a day for hygiene; this is planned to be canceled after the caregiver starts. Palliative care visits the home, and the doctor visits approximately once a week. The caregiver provides complete personal care, cooking, shopping, cleaning, and laundry. Her 88-year-old husband also lives in the household; he does not require care, but household tasks need to be managed for him. He has taken care of everything himself so far.
