A city full of charm

All roads lead to the bridge! This applies to the picturesque German town of Limburg an der Lahn. Its historic stone bridge (Limburger Lahnbrücke) offers a breathtaking view of the city and its landmark. Worth a visit!

Libumburg is a quiet town surrounded by beautiful nature, located about 60 km north of Frankfurt am Main. It lies on the river Lahn in the state of Hesse, in the centre of Germany. One of its greatest attractions is its imposing St. George’s Cathedral (Limburger Dom), which dominates the city’s skyline. This 13th-century Gothic gem is famous for its extraordinary stained glass windows and tall tower, which can be seen from afar. The historic centre with its narrow streets, old houses and cobbled squares is also worth exploring. A stroll around the city will offer you a unique opportunity to discover traditional German architecture and atmosphere.

The most photogenic symbol of the city is the bridge over the river Lahn, which connects the historic centre with other parts of Limburg. It was built in the 14th century as a crossroads for trade routes and is one of the oldest and most beautiful bridges in the region. It is 106 metres long and has six arches that lead over the River Lahn. In the centre of the bridge stands a stone statue of St. John of Nepomuk, a Czech priest and martyr of the confessional mystery and a patron saint during natural disasters and floods.

There are also natural beauties around Limburg that are ideal for hiking and cycling. The River Lahn offers opportunities for canoeing or fishing, while the surrounding landscape park is a great place for hiking. The town is also close to the Nassau Nature Park, where visitors can enjoy beautiful forests, mountain areas and picturesque villages.
