Care for an independently living 79-year-old elderly lady, 50 kg, 169 cm, who suffers from dementia and has recently been discharged from hospital where medication was adjusted. The lady is oriented in her home environment and has retained temporal orientation, but cannot coordinate appointments and can no longer process new information well. Short-term memory is weakened. Personality-wise, she is open, friendly, and cooperative with good mutual communication. She moves independently without aids and does not require supervision within the household; however, accompanying her outside the home is advisable due to her dementia. She requires supervision, reminders, and partial assistance with dressing, hygiene, and eating. She can prepare and put on her clothes herself, but supervision regarding appropriate attire and regular changes is necessary. She is mostly independent with personal hygiene, but requires guidance and assistance as needed. She manages her meals independently; it is important to motivate her to eat and ensure adequate fluid intake. She manages toilet use independently. Medications are prepared, and supervision of intake is required. The caregiver's duties include household management such as shopping, cooking, cleaning, and laundry care, as well as assistance with errands and accompanying her to medical appointments as agreed with the family. An important part of the care is companionship, establishing a daily routine, and activation (spending time together, walks, short trips, e.g., by bus to town, as well as activities like painting, crafting, cooking, or baking). Night duty is not required. A private room and private bathroom are available for the caregiver.
