Carer Groß-Gerau

Care for a self-reliant 87-year-old gentleman, 75 kg, 179 cm, who suffers from mild dementia and has an increased risk of falling. Mentally, he is oriented in time, space, and to people; dementia mainly manifests as forgetfulness. He is calm, without aggression or tendencies to wander. He has a history of heart attack and has an implanted defibrillator. The gentleman has slight mobility limitations but gets up and moves independently without the need for lifting. Incontinence is not present. He is largely independent in daily activities, requiring no assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, or toileting. The primary focus of the role is therefore supervision, companionship, and support in daily life. The scope of work includes primarily complete household management such as cooking, shopping (shop approx. 300 m away), cleaning, laundry, and ironing. Once a week, cleaning of two apartment units (ground floor and first floor) is required. Meals are prepared in the carer's kitchen, who has her own living space available. An important part of the care involves communication, companionship, and simple conversations to prevent the gentleman from becoming isolated. In the house on the ground floor are items belonging to his deceased wife, which he wishes to preserve. In case of need, acquaintances and the pharmacist also provide assistance. Night care or lifting is not required. The carer has her own accommodation with a private bathroom in the same house; the kitchen is shared.
