Care for an elderly married couple. 98-year-old gentleman, 60 kg, 172 cm, suffers from general old-age frailty and is recovering from gallbladder inflammation. He is mostly mobile without aids, uses a cane, and gets up independently. He has impaired short-term memory, repeats himself and asks the same questions, but orientation is mostly intact. He requires partial assistance with dressing, hygiene, showering, and toileting. He eats independently. He is not incontinent but wears incontinence briefs preventatively. 86-year-old lady, 45 kg, 162 cm, has dementia and urinary incontinence. She recognizes people and her orientation is mostly intact, but she cannot always correctly assess situations and needs a firm daily routine and a sense of security. She may experience anxiety when uncertain. She is significantly hard of hearing, only hearing in her right ear, and refuses to wear her hearing aid. She also has impaired vision due to cataracts and body pain, the cause of which is still under investigation. She moves independently without aids, sometimes requiring assistance when getting up. The lady needs guidance with dressing and partial assistance with hygiene, showering, and toileting. She wears incontinence briefs. She eats independently. Supervision of medication usage as prepared is required. It is important to involve her in daily activities and provide calm guidance and reassurance. The caregiver is also responsible for cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry, handling routine errands, providing companionship, and activating both spouses. Both need supervision regarding adequate fluid intake. Doctor's visits are arranged in agreement with the family. A bath seat is available. There is a garden at the house, but its care is not mandatory. Nighttime assistance is generally not required. Free time as agreed.
