Care for an elderly married couple in their shared home. Both suffer from early-stage dementia with weakened short-term memory. They know each other's names and orient themselves within their home environment. Time orientation is currently intact, but coordinating appointments is no longer possible. Communication is understandable; good with the wife, slightly limited with the husband. 86-year-old wife, 45 kg, 150 cm, has hearing difficulties, so it's necessary to speak clearly and loudly. She suffers from heartburn; regular medication intake is important. 89-year-old husband, 50 kg, 168 cm, has heart disease (heart failure, IHD), wears compression stockings which are put on by the outpatient service. Both seniors are mobile within the home without aids, get up independently. The husband only leaves the house with assistance. The wife is largely self-sufficient, dresses, eats, uses the toilet, and performs hygiene independently. Monitoring fluid intake and preparing meals is necessary (she prefers soft foods, sweet dishes, mashed potatoes). The husband requires partial assistance with dressing and hygiene; clothes need to be prepared for him, and regular changes monitored. At mealtimes, his food needs to be cut into small pieces, and fluid intake monitored; otherwise, he eats independently. Showering once a week is managed by the son. Medications for both are administered by the outpatient service. The caregiver's duties also include household management such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry, running small errands, accompanying them to appointments as agreed with the family, maintaining a daily routine, providing companionship, and conversation. The seniors are friendly and open, enjoying contact with family and friends. It is important to involve them in daily activities. Night care is not required.
